Troop 201
TROOP 201 GUIDELINES, 2008 - 2009
I. MEMBERSHIP DUES
A. Renewal & September Inductees
1. Membership dues are to be paid
the first scheduled meeting of September. The dues schedule is as follows:
a. One scout in the troop - $75.00
b. Two or more scouts in the
troop; $75.00 for first scout and $65.00 for each additional scout.
2. New Scouts pay
an additional one-time charge of $35.00 for the Class "B" uniform (hooded
sweatshirt, t-shirt) and Class “A” neckerchief.
B. New scouts joining after September:
1. A prorated fee of $6.25 per month
until the following September, plus the $35.00 uniform charge.
C. Arrears
1. Scouts in arrears after October
1, will not be allowed to attend Troop meetings or participate in Troop
functions due to insurance regulations.
D. Trip Fees
1. Trip fees will be announced with
a copy of the Trip permission form prior to outing. Trip fees may be for
activities, food, and transportation.
D. Fundraising:
1. The monies raised by the Troop’s two (2) fundraisers are used to purchase supplies and equipment as well as pay user fees for camping trips. Without each scouts’ full participation in these two fundraisers, the troop’s annual registration fees would have to be significantly increased. Therefore, it is mandatory that each scout meet the minimum participation level indicated below. Those scouts that do not participate fully in these fundraisers are expected to reimburse the troop. Scouts neither meeting the minimum participation level nor reimbursing the troop for sales not made will not be allowed to participate in future troop activities.

II. UNIFORMS
A. Unless otherwise directed, Scouts will arrive and depart Troop functions in Class
“A” uniform. Class “A” uniform required for weekly troop meetings, parades and
all official functions.
B. Class “A” (formal) uniform will consist of, dress shirt, pants, belt, boots and neckerchief: outer garment as appropriate.
C. Class “B” uniform will consist of Troop T-shirt and Troop sweatshirt as
needed, jeans, shorts or pants (NO sweatpants), boots or sneakers. NO sneakers
for hiking activities.
D. UNIFORMS ARE AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE SCOUTING PROGRAM; THEY IDENTIFY US AS TO
WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE STAND FOR. SCOUTS MUST WEAR THE PROPER (Class A or B)
UNIFORM TO ALL SCOUTING FUNCTIONS.
Lack of proper uniform at any such event may preclude that scout from attending
the next campout or function.
III. ATTENDANCE
A. Scouts must notify their Patrol leader, SPL, or an adult leader if they are
unable to attend meetings for more than three weeks.
1. Failure to notify scout leaders may
cause a scout to be unable to participate in the next scout function.
2. These measures are to ensure a
scout’s safety, so that everyone knows the whereabouts of a scout on meeting
nights.
IV. ADVANCEMENT
A. Each scout will advance at least one rank each calendar year until he
reaches the rank of Star.
V. ELECTIONS
A. Elections for Senior Patrol Leader and Patrol Leader will he held as
necessary and will serve through the following September.
VI. LEADERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS
A. Patrol Leader (PL)
1. Must be at least Tenderfoot rank.
B. Senior Patrol Leader (SPL)
1. Fourteen years of age and rank of
at least First Class.
2. Experience as a Patrol Leader or
Assistant Patrol Leader.
VII. OTHER LEADERSHIP POSITIONS
A. The Senior Patrol Leader with the guidance of the Scoutmaster will appoint
the following positions:
1. Assistant Senior Patrol Leader
2. Troop Scribe
3. Troop Quartermaster
4. Troop Librarian
B. The Patrol Leader, with the guidance of the Scoutmaster,
will appoint the following:
1. Assistant Patrol Leader.
C. Removal from Leadership positions.
1. A scout holding any position of leadership in the troop, who in the opinion of
the Scoutmaster is not fulfilling the responsibility of that position will be removed
by the Troop Leadership Council.
VIII. GUIDELINES FOR
BOARD OF REVIEW
A. The Board of Review will consist of 3-5 Committee Members. The Board will
meet on the last Monday of each month. If there is no scheduled regular troop meeting
on the last Monday, the Board will announce when it will meet that month. The
Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters do not participate in Boards of Review.
The Board of Review follows the Scoutmaster’s Conference.
B. Purpose of Board of Review:
1. To make sure the Scout has
fulfilled the necessary requirements for rank
advancement.
2. To determine if the scout is
having a good experience in the troop. The Board is looking for Scout Spirit, meeting
attendance, participation in troop outings and participation in troop service
projects.
3. To encourage
the scout to continue on the trail to Eagle.
IX. TROOP PROGRAM
A. A troop program for the following year will be discussed and planned at the
August Parent Committee Meeting and Green Bar Meeting. The Troop calendar runs
from September through August.
X. ADULT LEADERSHIP
A. The Troop is run by the Parent Committee which consists of all parents of
registered Scouts and is headed by the elected position of Committee
Chairperson.
B. The Committee Chairperson is
in charge of delegating authority to two groups:
1. Committee Member Positions
2. Scoutmaster and Assistant
